Beyond The Empty Tomb...Being Easter People

What does it mean to live as Easter people? All throughout the Lenten season and through Holy week, we press our way towards Easter morning arriving ready to witness, anew, the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection. Beyond Easter Sunday morning, we quickly fall back into our routine of living. Being Easter people means that we spend everyday in our living empowered by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

On Easter morning, Mary and others made their way to the tomb where the body of Jesus had been laid. The Gospel of Mark tells us that they encountered a man at the tomb who told them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here.” The man also told them, “Go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.”

Being Easter people means that we continue to experience renewal, resurrection and revival in our lives beyond Sunday Easter morning. As followers of Christ, getting to Easter morning is part of the journey. Living as followers empowered by the resurrection of Christ means that we embrace each day and each reality in our life with the assurance that the impossible can be possible, that we are more than conquerors and that God through Christ Jesus can and will work all matters for our good according to God’s will.

From the empty tomb, Jesus called his disciples to meet him in Galilee, where they would encounter him as the risen savior! As we continue the journey beyond the empty tomb and Easter morning, let us remember that Jesus meets us, equips us and encourages us for the journey ahead. May we be reminded that because Jesus has gone on ahead of us, we can follow where Jesus leads. Be encouraged and Happy Easter Blessings, continuously.
